How do I Find Out if I Have a Warrant in Austin or Travis County?

Although there are numerous resources available to find out if you have a warrant out for your arrest in Austin, I usually start my inquiries with a quick search from either the Travis County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Search or I check the Austin Police Department Warrant List. Unfortunately, sometimes one or both of these resources will fail to show an active warrant when one has been issued. These lists are updated periodically and are not always accurate. There have been many instances when neither of these databases have shown an active warrant for someone’s arrest, yet I was still able to find one through other resources.

If you have a warrant out for your arrest in Austin, Texas, you should immediately contact an Austin criminal defense attorney to help clear your warrant and to begin working on a defense to the accusations against you.

What Should I Do If I Have a Warrant Out For My Arrest?

If you have an active warrant for your arrest, the best thing you can do is address the matter as soon as possible. Without legal action, a warrant will not simply disappear or go away. You could be arrested at any time. You could be arrested during a routine traffic stop, at the airport, at home in front of your family, or even at your job.  You can avoid this unnecessary inconvenience and embarrasment by being proactive and hiring an Austin Attorney who can help clear your warrant on your terms.

If you have an active warrant, a lawyer can evaluate your case and advise you how to clear or “lift” the warrant. There are several options to clear a Travis County warrant, including a warrant “recall” and a “walk-through.”

Getting a Warrant Recalled

The Law Office of Kevin Bennett can help you clear active warrants for new or for old cases.  Oftentimes, arrest warrants are issued for individuals after they have moved from Austin or even out of Texas.  It is sometimes possible to clear those warrants without an individual ever having to come back to Austin at all. Travis County Jail Walk-Through

A second way to clear an active warrant is for you and your attorney to schedule a “walk-through.” As a criminal defense attorney, I will often work with a client to schedule a walk-through at the Travis County Jail. This process allows my clients to complete the booking process much quicker than the average person that is arrested, as they do not have to spend nearly as much time at the jail. By scheduling a walk-through in advance, many of my clients feel much less anxiety, as they have the peace of mind knowing that their defense attorney is there to help them at the Travis County Jail and that the neccessary steps have been taken in advance to minimize their jail experience.
